I finally got the win in the final gravel race of the season at Wangbangsan in Dongducheon City about 1 hour north of Seoul.
The race was intense as we had to start with E mountain bikers who were able to go full throttle on the road and up climbs making for a painful start! I managed to latch onto an e bike and get a good gap on the competition in my category before we hit the first real climb.
My 49cc Ultradynamico Rose tires on the 3T Exploro Racemax proved to be a great combo for this course. After a summer of intense rains the fire road sections were full of bumpy rocks making for tough going on a gravel bike and a lot of flats even for the mountain bikers.
The course ends with a tough climb and single track descent. The climb is too steep to ride which is where my new QUOC Gran Tourer II shoes came in handy. I felt very confident striding up the mud and then jumping into the final down hill.
It felt great to hit that top step of the podium. Gravel is just getting started in Korea and I think there will be even more races next year.
지난 일요일에 그래블카테고리로 왕방산 산악자전거 대회 참가했습니다. 코스가 그래블 바이크 타기에 조금 험했지만 좋은 운으로 1등할 수 있었습니다.
출발 때 그래블 바이크들 및 전기자전거 라이더들 앞에 모여서 출발에 자리 싸움 할 필요 없었습니다. 하지만 전기자전거가 너무 빨라서 내 인생에 힘든 한국 mtb 대회시작 되었어요. 전지자전거에 붙어가려고 햇으니까 힘들었고 8키로정도 살짝 업힐 도로라 난리가 났어요 ㅋㅋ
임도 구간으로 들어가면서 내 페이스로 탔습니다. 업힐 구간들에 제가 타는 3T 익스플로로레이스맥스 아주 빨랐고 타이어 49c Ultradynamico Rose 30psi로 해서 그립도 충분했습니다. 근데 다운힐구간들 돌이 너무 많아서 조심 스럽게 타게 되서 mtb 보다 속도 조금 못냈습니다.
피니쉬 까지 줄겁게 빨르게 타고 중간에 있는 싱글구간들도 문제 없이 통과할 수 있었습니다. (마지막 업힐이 300m 글발 빼고 다 탔습니다 끌바 할때 사용하는 Qouc Gran Tourer II 신발 그립이 우수했습니다)
경기 피니쉬에 일등으로 들어오면서 가분이 너무 좋았습니다. 올해 처음으로 한국에 official gravel bike category 같은 첫 몇 대회중에 성적 낼 수 있는게 기뻤습니다. 앞으로 많으 그래블 대회 및 라이더들 생겼으면 좋겠습니다.
여기 코스 나증에 타보고 싶으면 추천하지만 돌 많은거 가만해서 무조건 스페이어 튜브도 챙기고 다운힐에 조심히 타야해요. 그리고 중간 중간 도로도 나오니까 대회코스 다 탈 필요 없고 맛만 보려면 한 구간만 타보는 것도 좋습니다. 동두천시에서 코스 간판 만들어줘서 gps 파일 없어도 충분히 탈 수 있습니다.
