My second gravel race of the season was down in Jeongeup about 3 hours south of Seoul. This was a first year mountain bike race with a gravel category on a course full of small rolling hills (300m - 1km). I thought it might be a rough one again so I race on 650b Boyd Jocassee wheels with 49cc Ultradynamico Rose tires.
We had perfect weather at the start 65 degrees and sunny! The start was more subdued than the previous week but the race blew up over a small first climb and I was caught a bit off guard. My group chased thru the ensuing rice fields before we hit the meat of the course and ended up riding in small groups over the fire road hills.
I got a bit unlucky and hit a steel grate causing a small leak in my tire. I managed to get it to seal but had to get off the bike and add air 4 times which cost me a few minutes. I tried to stay calm and keep my pace to pick guys off once I got the leak sealed.
The course was a ton of fun and I would highly recommend it for someone looking for a day of gravel fun in Korea.
Again I ended up coming in 4th place on the day which was still good enough for a podium!
The course really let my 3T Exploro Racemax bike shine and I look forward to moving up a few steps on the podium next year.

지난 일요일에 그래블카테고리로 정읍 내장산 산악자전거 대회 참가했습니다. 코스가 그래블 바이크 타기에 아주 좋았습니다. 제가 타고 있는 3T 익스플로로레이스맥스 자전거가 잘 맞는 코스이었습니다. 타이어 49c Ultradynamico Rose랑 650b Boyd Jocassee휠에 사용 했습니다.
출발 때 날씨도 좋고 덥지도 않았습니다. 그래블 바이크들 앞에 모여서 출발에 자리 싸움 할 필요 없었습니다.
코스 임도 비중이 높았고 코너도 아주 많았습니다. 한번 타보고싶다면 꼭 gps 파일 가지고 도로에 있는 표시도 남아 있을거니까 잘 보세요.
임도 시멘트 구간들이 다 상태 좋지만 다운힐들 조금 가팔아서 속도 많이 안내는게 좋습니다. 그래도 아주 재미있는 코스이었습니다.
마지막 임도구간이 저수지 돌아서 거의 평지라 그래블바이크 속도 아주 잘 나왔습니다.
업힐구간들도 다 짧고 (1키로 정도) 마지막 찰보산 넘어가는 포장길만 조금 길었어요.
이번 대회에서도 그래블 4등으로 들어와서 시상식까지 하고 좋았습니다. 이번에 아기랑 포디엄 올라가서 기뻤습니다.
내년에도 여기서 대회하면 더 많은 그래블 라이더들 타면 좋겠다.
